The Luxury of Simplicity

Château de Montcaud

Château de Montcaud was first established in 1848 as a private residence of a silk manufacturer. In the nineteen-nineties this magical property in Provence was converted into a hotel. After a second renovation, the chateau hotel reopened in 2018. Today this little oasis of tranquility houses a five-star boutique hotel, complete with two restaurants, meeting-rooms, a heated pool and a tennis court. And holds a clear focus on the luxury of simplicity.

FROM SILK TRADE TO SPLENDOR

History of the Chateau

Img

Château de Moncaud is a cheerful estate built by silk trader Alexandre Eugène Collain in 1848. After his death, his son Florentin became the sole heir, upholding his father's humanist ideals. In 1992, the château was transformed into a hotel, granting access to the public. The founding family's deep love for art, nature and people is reflected not only in the history of the chateau, but also the actual buildings, and especially the five-hectare park. Today, the château's history is palpable in many hotel features, where modern comfort is blended with sleek elegance and exceptional service, and guests’ well-being is placed before all.

A stroll through nature

Gardens & park

Château de Moncaud is surrounded by five hectares (12 acres) of gardens and park lands. When the chateau was built in the mid 19th century, the dreamy, romantic garden was a playful, light-hearted answer to the strict, geometric designs of the current period. The founding family's love for nature is still reflected in the park today; century-old trees are abundant on the property, and fragrant gardens grow alongside woods and meadows.
