Château de Montcaud is a cheerful estate built by silk trader Alexandre
Eugène Collain in 1848. After his death, his son Florentin became the sole heir,
upholding his father’s humanist ideals. He had a passion for horses and music, employed his own orchestra, and held countless concerts at the chateau. As a mayor of the town of Sabran, Florentin Collain established himself as a patron of the local schools as well as culture and music. The founding family's deep love for art, nature and people is reflected not only in the history of the chateau, but also the actual buildings, and especially the five-hectare park.
After several ownership changes and years of neglect, the chateau was transformed into a hotel in 1992. In 2016, it was acquired by today's Swiss owning family, who has revived its original spirit and created a unique hotel experience. Today, the château's history is palpable in many hotel features, where modern comfort is blended with sleek elegance and exceptional service, and guests’ well-being is placed before all.
Château de Montcaud is surrounded by five hectares (12 acres) of gardens and park lands.
When the chateau was built in the mid 19th century,
the dreamy, romantic garden was a playful, light-hearted answer to the strict, geometric designs of the current period.
